If you find yourself blossoming at Mount Holyoke but feel as if your significant other is stunting such growth, I would advise for you two to part. If they encourage and inspire you to grow, then pay no mind to the others around you as long as you are happy. Cohabitation can be a very tricky subject. However, I truly believe that communication will help you solve this predicament. You should not linger over a boiling stew for too long. It will only invite her to continue such habits and cause tension in the relationship. Discuss what is and is not acceptable.
